Interpretative Centre

The Interpretative Centre was designed to represent the totems of the Traditional Owners of the Nudgee Waterholes country. These totems are the Sea Hawk and the Crow. The roof of the Interpretative Centre represents these totems and casts a shadow which represents the birds wings and the long snake-like body of the building represents the Rainbow Serpent.

The Interpretative Centre is a sustainable design. There is a watertank attached to the building which collects rainwater from the roof. This water is then used for the showers and the toilets. In the future the centre will also have solar power.

The exterior of the bulding has been designed to hang artwork and banners.

To find out more about future developments planned for the Nudgee Waterholes Reserve please contact Brisbane City Council to receive a copy of the Cultural Heritage Management Plan or contact the Jagera Aboriginal Corporation for more information.
