Men's Business The Bora ring was where the boys (kippas) were taken from their parents and made into men. This is called initiation. Initiated men formed the bora council, which dealt with marriage, law making and settlement grievances. Women's BusinessTribal women prepared the young boys (kippas) for initiation from birth to puberty. Only initiated men and women were permitted in the ceremonial area. Initiation was not only a celebration for young men but also an emotional time for the women as they handed over the boys at the bora. The Traditional Owners request that respect is given to the customs, laws and spiritual beliefs of this area.
